The faculty congratulates its members Dr. Susanne Dogan-Surmeier and Dr. Giovanni Zamborlini for the funding of their research projects within the TU Dortmund Young Academy. Mr. Zamborlini investigates in his project the topology of two-dimensional molecular networks by means of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with application in storage technology and gas sensing. Ms. Dogan-Surmeier is investigating the influence of perfluorinated hydrocarbons on protein adsorption on model membranes for biomedical applications in lung diseases. Both scientists will be admitted to the TU Dortmund Young Academy for a period of six years through their successful application in a two-stage process. The Young Academy supports postdoctoral researchers in their qualification phase and offers workshops, retreats, fireside chats with the rectorate and peer mentoring opportunities to build up a research project with strong third-party funding capabilities.
