"My research group deals with issues in experimental particle physics and medical physics, as well as technology transfer between the two fields. In the field of particle physics, we mainly work with data from the ATLAS experiment, which is installed at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) of the Geneva research center CERN. Our main interests are the investigation of rare processes with top quarks and the further development of modern semiconductor detectors. In the field of medical physics, we work on topics of dosimetry, in particular on the investigation of novel dosimeters, and on various aspects of proton therapy. We link these two fields of work through technology transfer, e.g., through the further development of detector systems for proton therapy or the application of machine learning in dosimetry."

![3D visualisation of human neuronal tissue reconstructed by multi-scale X-ray phase contrast tomography. Neuronal cell nuclei are shown in yellow for the granule neurons in the dentate gyrus region of the hippocampus. Blood vessels are shown in red. By changing the X-ray optical magnification in the multi-scale recordings, one can zoom into regions-of-interest (red ovals). In these scans the resolution is high enough to resolve sub-structures of the nucleus, associated with different DNA packing regimes.
