Admission to the Master of Medical Physics and Physics of Living Systems
Admission requirements
The prerequisite for admission to the master's program in Medical Physics and Physics of Living Systems is a bachelor's degree in Medical Physics from the TU Dortmund University or another degree in a comparable course of study of at least three years (six semesters). An overall Bachelor grade better than 3.0 must have been achieved. The programm must include a substantial proportion of introductory lectures in advanced mathematics (at least 15 ECTS credits) and physics (at least 25 ECTS).
All details are regulated by the Examination Regulations of the study program (these official documents are in German).
Further information abaout the application process, like application Periods, can be found on the homepage of the international office.
Enrollment in the Master of Medical Physics and Physics of Living Systems
If you are already a student at TU Dortmund University, you can find information about the application and transfer process on the Campusportal under the “Application” tab. For many programs, transfers are possible for both the winter and summer semesters. Deadlines vary depending on the program. Please note that a very late enrollment can lead to organizational problems in the Master's program. Please consider the corresponding dates and deadlines for your degree program. If you have studied at TU Dortmund University but have already been removed from the register of students, please use the online enrollment.
If you have obtained your Bachelor's degree at another German university, please apply via the online portal of the Registrar's Office.
Before you enroll, make sure that you are aware of the necessary requirements for the corresponding Master's program. In principle, it is necessary to clarify whether your first university degree is sufficient in terms of content and quality for admission to the desired master's program. This will be decided in the end by the responsible examination board. After sending the complete enrollment documents to the Student Secretariat, they will be forwarded to the respective examination board. You will be informed in writing about its decision and, in case of admission, you will be enrolled immediately.
Please note that special conditions apply to applicants from abroad, especially if the native language is not German. Information on this can be found on the website of the International Office.

![3D visualisation of human neuronal tissue reconstructed by multi-scale X-ray phase contrast tomography. Neuronal cell nuclei are shown in yellow for the granule neurons in the dentate gyrus region of the hippocampus. Blood vessels are shown in red. By changing the X-ray optical magnification in the multi-scale recordings, one can zoom into regions-of-interest (red ovals). In these scans the resolution is high enough to resolve sub-structures of the nucleus, associated with different DNA packing regimes.
