Since September 1st Prof. Dr. Christof Weitenberg works in the area of ultracold quantum gases at the department of physics.

The department of physics welcomes Prof. Dr. Christof Weitenberg. After having received his PhD from the LMU Munich in 2011, he worked as a postdoc at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris. Since 2013 he worked as a senior scientist at the institue of laser physics at the university of Hamburg. On September 1st he started his professorship at the department of physics in Dortmund. His research focuses on quantum simulations with ultracold atoms, quantum gas microscopy, ultracold topological matter and machine learning in quantum physics. He will collaborate closely with physicists working on atomic and molecular optics as welle as theoretical and experimental solid-state physics.
