56 new students, 4 continents, countless perspectives – and one exciting journey ahead!
A very warm welcome to all 56 new students joining our Master's program in Medical Physics and Physics of Living Systems (MMPPLS) at TU Dortmund University! We are thrilled to have you here and excited to get to know you over the coming two years.
You bring an incredible diversity of cultures, experiences, and academic backgrounds to our program. 72% of you have come from abroad, representing countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. Your backgrounds range from physics and medical physics to biomedical, mechanical and bio-engineering. And with 54% female students, our new class also reflects the diversity we hope to foster in science.
During your first semester, you'll build a common foundation in physics, biomedical physics, and related subjects. But just as importantly, you'll get to know each other, exchange ideas, and discover what happens when people from different disciplines and cultures come together to explore the physics of medicine and living systems.
And you're joining us at an exciting time! Just one year after launching MMPPLS in the winter semester of 2025/26, our program has grown to 113 students, with enrollment increasing approximately sixfold.
We are excited to have you as part of our growing MMPPLS community and look forward to make the next two years a memorable experience!

If you would like to attend this lecture, you must fill out this German form and send it to the lecturer (an English translation is provided here for your information). After the exam the form will be returned to you and you should forward it to the Physics Examination Office at TU Dortmund
Late arrival in Dortmund
For most courses of the Master of Medical Physics and Physics of Living Systems there is no registration at the beginning of the semester (with the exception of Lab courses and exercises), but only at the end of the semester for the examinations. Therefore, you can also start late in the semester, but it is of course clear that the later you start, the less likely you will pass the exam in a satisfactory way.
