Since 2019, the Physics Faculty has awarded the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Dissertation Prize each year to an outstanding dissertation. The selected doctoral theses have each been graded "with distinction" and make a significant scientific contribution to their respective fields. The award comes with prize money of 4,000 euros, which is financed by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation. The Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Dissertation Prize for 2022 will be awarded to Dr. Carina Fedosejevs. Dr. Carina Fedosejevs wrote her dissertation in the field of medical physics under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Matthias Schneider. The topic of her thesis are studies "On the optical detection of the physical state of excitable membranes".
