Connecting Scales in Quantum Physics

I will introduce the Renormalisation Group as an essential tool to connect the physics at different scales in quantum systems. As an example, I will highlight its role in determining the stability of the Higgs potential in the Standard Model of Particle Physics and extensions thereof.

The Renormalisation Group also predicts the occurrence of critical phenomena such as second order phase transitions, creating synergies between high-energy and condensed matter physics. In this vein, I will present recent progress in studying the UV critical point of the Litim-Sannino model.

Finally, I will give an overview of the template formalism, a programme which makes the Renormalisation Group accessible to the wider research community.
