Incentive Program for the Acquisition of Third-Party Funds and for the Support of Young Scientists

Offers of the Department of Phyiscs

The Department of Physics has created an incentive program for the acquisition of third-party funds, with which it would like to support young scientists. The target groups are post-doctoral researchers without a permanent position, lecturers (“Akademischer Rat/Rätin”) and junior professors. The aim of the program is to encourage the acquisition of third-party funding at an early stage of the academic career and the associated further qualification.

The program itself consists of three funding measures, each of which can be granted exactly once. The grant recipients must be a member of the Department of Physics for the entire grant period, but applications can be submitted before they start working at TU Dortmund University. The application for funding is submitted to the dean, retroactive funding is not possible.

  • Purpose: The scope corresponds to about 2 WHF staff (5 hrs./week) for 6 months to carry out preliminary work, e.g. for literature research, taking measurement series, collecting statistics, carrying out simulations, etc. Another possibility is to cover travel expenses.
  • Provision: In case of preparation of a third-party funding application with a volume of at least 20,000 euros.
  • Requirements:
    • Support by a university lecturer/professor or junior research group leader.
