The Department of Physics mourns the death of Professor Alfred Pflug
- News
Prof. Alfred Pflug was Professor of Physics Education at the Technical University of Dortmund from 1992 to 2013. After receiving his doctorate from the University of Vienna in 1978, working as a senior assistant and two longer stays abroad, Prof. Pflug was appointed to the TU Dortmund University in 1992.
Prof. Alfred Pflug devoted himself very intensively and with great pleasure to student teachers during his teaching activities in Dortmund. He taught them the interrelationships of physics in a technically well-founded and didactically skilful manner so that the students were in turn able to convey these to the pupils very well. Prof. Pflug was held in high esteem by the students and staff. This was particularly evident in the fact that many kept in touch with him for a long time after he left.
Among colleagues, "Fredi" was often very cooperative, a real enrichment in personal contact and his horizon went far beyond subject didactics. His lectures at the "Brötchen und Borussia" event were received with enthusiasm - especially on the "Thermodynamics of the Viennese Schnitzel" or also on the "Music of Mozart".
With Professor Alfred Pflug, TU Dortmund University has lost a highly esteemed and universally popular colleague. We will honour his memory. Our deepest sympathy goes to his relatives.
