International prospective students
We are delighted that you are interested in studying at the Department of Physics at TU Dortmund. Our Bachelor of Physics and Bachelor of Medical Physics degree programs are accredited as German degree programs and therefore most of the courses are taught in German. German language skills at B2 level or equivalent are therefore required. Some courses are however also offered in English.
The Physics Master's degree program and Master of Medical Physics were switched completely to English. The international Master's program with a focus on elementary particle physics (International Master on Advanced Methods in Particle Physics) also gives you the opportunity to study in an international environment in three European cities.
Are you interested? Then don't waste any time and take a look at the pages of the International Office where you will find all the relevant information regarding the application process. Studying in a new country can be expensive. The International Office has prepared a list of scholarships that will provide you with financial support. For example, the DAAD offers various scholarships for students of STEM subjects.
Before submitting your application, we recommend that you contact our student advisory service to clarify whether you meet the admission requirements or whether any conditions need to be fulfilled beforehand.
Your application was successful? The International Office will support your preparations and offers welcome events for international students to help you feel at home in Dortmund! We particularly recommend that you take part in the Come2Campus event, which lasts several days, in order to obtain lots of important information and get to know your fellow students.

![Band structure of 2D semimetal based on HgTe quantum well. Experimental points are obtained from the analysis of the cyclotron resonance in the quasi-classical approximation. Solid lines are predictions of the kp theory with no free parameters. Splitting of the conduction (e1,2) and valence (h1) band is due to the quantum confinement. [J.
