On 23 April, the Equal Opportunities team organized a programme for schoolgirls as part of the nationwide Girls' Day. The participants were given an insight into studying physics and the work of physicists.

After being welcomed by the equal opportunities team, the students got to know different facets of the Department of Physics in three different workshops. In one workshop, the participants visited an optical laboratory and gained exciting insights into working with lasers. Another part of the program included ultrasound experiments in the lab, where the students were able to carry out measurements themselves. The third workshop was all about particle physics: using the LHCb experiment at CERN as an example, the participants gained an impression of modern research as well as the structure and functioning of detectors.
The program offered the students the opportunity to experience physics in a practical way and learn more about possible study and career paths in this field.
