LHCb Masterclass
- Masterclasses
Once again, the International Masterclasses will take place this year with the participation of the third large LHC experiment, LHCb. In addition to the universal detectors ATLAS and CMS, LHCb was built as a precision detector. Extremely good spatial, momentum and time resolutions allow the LHCb collaboration to study extremely rare decays and time-resolved measurements of matter-antimatter oscillations. This involves both measuring the parameters of the standard model with unprecedented precision and searching for new, previously unknown particles in quantum fluctuations.
![Band structure of 2D semimetal based on HgTe quantum well. Experimental points are obtained from the analysis of the cyclotron resonance in the quasi-classical approximation. Solid lines are predictions of the kp theory with no free parameters. Splitting of the conduction (e1,2) and valence (h1) band is due to the quantum confinement. [J.
