First Semester Welcome
- News

The Department of Physics welcomes its first-year students! We are pleased that we are once again able to offer a high proportion of face-to-face teaching this semester. This gives especially the new students the opportunity to get to know the faculty, the lecturers and their fellow students on site. In order to offer face-to-face teaching, a high immunization rate among students is necessary. We therefore appeal to all students of the faculty to get vaccinated. Please also observe the valid hygiene measures when visiting the university, especially the 3G regulation.
We would like to welcome our new "First-timers" again this year and invite you to the traditional "First Semester Welcome" event on 2021-11-10 at 2:15 pm in HG II, HS 3 (lecture hall building II, lecture hall 3).

![3D visualisation of human neuronal tissue reconstructed by multi-scale X-ray phase contrast tomography. Neuronal cell nuclei are shown in yellow for the granule neurons in the dentate gyrus region of the hippocampus. Blood vessels are shown in red. By changing the X-ray optical magnification in the multi-scale recordings, one can zoom into regions-of-interest (red ovals). In these scans the resolution is high enough to resolve sub-structures of the nucleus, associated with different DNA packing regimes.
