Prof. Joachim Stolze has been awarded a senior professorship by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation for the second time. With the continuation of the senior professorship, the development of a new teacher training course will be advanced and a manual for the student laboratory Treffpunkt Quantenmechanik will be developed. In addition, a scholarship programme is to be developed to facilitate the lateral entry of particularly qualified Master's graduates into the teaching profession.

The programme "WE-Heraeus-Seniorprofessuren für innovative Ausbildungskonzepte im Fach Physik" (WE-Heraeus Senior Professorships for Innovative Educational Concepts in Physics) was launched in 2008.  The aim of the programme is to encourage academics to work on improving teaching at their home university after they have left active service. A special focus is on the training of student teachers.
