In the "Careers in Physics" seminar, Arne Thomann and Carolin Lüders present Leopold Kostal GmbH & Co. KG

Leopold KOSTAL GmbH & Co KG was founded in Lüdenscheid in 1912 and has been family-owned for four generations. KOSTAL has developed from its beginnings in special electrics (now mechatronics) into a well-known name in the automotive industry. The Automotive Electrics division develops and produces electronic and mechatronic components; every second vehicle worldwide contains KOSTAL products. In particular, KOSTAL builds on-board chargers and charging stations for the future-oriented electromobility sector. The company employs 20,000 people at over 50 locations in 20 countries, around 2000 in Germany. Important locations include Lüdenscheid (headquarters) and Dortmund Technology Center (center for product development).

Carolin Lüders and Arne Thomann - both doctoral alumni of the TU Dortmund from experimental condensed matter physics (AG Aßmann and AG Debus) - work in technology development, specifically as a simulation engineer and technology project manager. They report on their path into the company and their everyday work.
