"Privatdozent Dr. Jaime Ruz is a senior researcher in the Faculty of Physics at the Technical University of Dortmund, where he coordinates research exploring physics beyond the Standard Model through non-collider approaches.

His work focuses on axion and dark matter searches, combining detector innovation with astroparticle physics. He plays key roles in the CERN Axion Solar Telescope and the International Axion Observatory, and contributes to space-based missions with NASA. His research spans advanced X-ray optics, gaseous detectors for rare-event searches, and ultra-low-background measurement techniques that shape next-generation axion instrumentation.

With more than two decades of experience, Dr. Ruz’s expertise covers particle and astroparticle physics, detector technologies, and nuclear applications, including time projection chambers, micromegas detectors, TREX-DM, and NIFFTE.

He has served as contact person and deputy technical coordinator for CAST and spent over a decade at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, pioneering X-ray optics for axion searches and coordinating projects in nuclear fission and machine-learning-based particle identification. A founding member of IAXO, he currently acts as beamline coordinator and leads prototype development to enhance experimental sensitivity.

Dr. Ruz collaborates internationally with institutions including CERN, the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron, contributing to global efforts to uncover dark matter and new fundamental physics."
