The Department of Physics mourns the death of Professor Thomas Weis
- News

Prof. Dr. Thomas Weis came to the then University of Dortmund in 1994 as Professor of Experimental Physics. He had previously completed his doctorate and habilitation at the University of Frankfurt. The accelerator physicist devoted his research to high-frequency facilities and diagnostics for electron and ion accelerators. He also researched beam dynamics at high intensities. Prof. Weis helped build the Dortmund electron storage ring facility DELTA and shaped it until his retirement in 2020. At the Department of Physics, he was chairman of the doctoral committee for many years. His lectures were very popular with students. With Professor Thomas Weis, TU Dortmund University has lost a highly esteemed and universally popular colleague. We will honour his memory. Our deepest sympathy goes to his relatives.
